As a longtime console user, I created a bunch of user accounts. Some for work-related games, some for personal games, and even more for many other reasons. The thing is, having multiple accounts isn’t much of a problem, but if you’re logging in with all those accounts on your PS5, it’s going to be hard to keep track of what you’re doing on which account. So, if you have one too many user accounts on your console, here’s how to delete PS5 accounts.
Delete user accounts
Deleting a user account from the PlayStation 5 is quite simple. Here’s how to delete your user account from a PS5.
- Go to Settings -> Users and Accounts.
- Here, select “Users”.
- Select the trash can next to the username you want to remove from your PS5 and press X on the DualSense controller to remove the user.
Delete PlayStation Network Account
On the other hand, if for some reason you want to delete your entire PSN account, you will need to do so through the Sony website. Here’s what you need to do.
- Head to the Sony website and click on ‘Contact us’.
- Select “Account & Security”, then submit a ticket with your email ID and PSN ID using the live chat feature.
I obviously haven’t tried this method, but your request should be processed within a few days, after which your account will be permanently deleted.
However, note that deleting your PSN account will also delete any funds you had added to your PS Wallet. These funds cannot be transferred to your bank account, so you will lose money there. Additionally, you will lose access to all downloaded or purchased games and apps, as well as your progress in various games. You will also lose any subscriptions you paid for.
Basically, make sure to only delete your PSN account in the most extreme cases where there is simply no other option left. Because once done, there is no way to recover deleted items.
Clean up your console by deleting accounts
Having way too many user accounts on your PS5 won’t affect things too much. However, it is difficult to select the right account to log in with. Either way, you should always use one password for your PS5 user account if you have multiple accounts on your PS5. Additionally, you should also password protect your PS5 purchases to prevent accidental purchases from your card.
So how many user accounts do you have on your PS5? Are you deleting any of them? Let us know in the comments.
