When COD Mobile Season 3: Tokyo Escape was released, fans expected a free Katana due to the Japanese theme. However, the developers later clarified that the third season would not include such a free katana reward.

Activision, however, reassured fans that they would soon be introducing the same melee weapon for free. Earlier this month, the developers confirmed that a free Katana would be coming to COD Mobile Season 6 on August 20.

Finally, the wait is over as the free Katana is now available in-game through the game’s latest featured event, Sharpened Skills.

Free Katana in COD Mobile: How to Claim the Melee Weapon for Free

Players should open the featured menu in the events section of COD Mobile to check out the new event. The latest featured event has 10 MP mode missions and five rewards.

Players can unlock each reward after producing a certain number of points through tasks.

  • Play five MP matches – 10 dots.
  • Play 10 MP matches – 10 dots.
  • Kill five enemies with melee weapons – 15 dots.

  • Use the Shadow Blade Operator Skill five times in MP matches – 15 dots.
  • Kill 20 enemies with the Shadow Blade Operator Skill in MP matches – 20 dots.
  • Deals 6000 damage in MP matches – 20 stitches.
  • Earn the Backstabber medal five times in MP matches – 15 dots.
  • Kill 20 enemies with Lightweight and Dead Silence perks equipped – 10 dots.
  • Win five MP matches – 20 dots.

  • 150 credits unlock at 60 points.
  • 20 Weapon XP Cards unlock at 70 points.

  • Backpack 1 – Mosaic unlocks at 120 points.
  • Katana unlocks at 140 points.

Players should keep the following suggestions in mind to complete missions quickly:

  1. Play with a regular team instead of random teams in COD Mobile MP matches. They can easily get five kills with better coordination and teamwork.
  2. Unlock Shadow Blade in the credit store and use it in every game.
  3. Use a favorite melee weapon that players find easy to wield, such as a knife, baseball bat, key, or any other.
  4. Play short MP modes like Free For All instead of Hardpoint and Domination.
  5. Choose an appropriate card before making the match instead of a random selection.
  6. Equip a melee weapon instead of the primary weapon to get more melee kills
