While Google Photos can still claim to dominate in terms of versatility and smarts, Apple Photos has slowly but surely covered a lot of ground. Along with adding some notable privacy-focused features like the ability to limit access to third-party apps, the app also introduced several cool features like filters and a better way to hide the hidden album. Another interesting addition to mention is sorting. As the name suggests, it lets you sort images and videos in the iOS 14 Photos app on your iPhone and iPad. If you think your photo library deserves better organization, give it a try!

Sort Pictures and Videos in Photos App in iOS 14 on iPhone/iPad

The new sort function allows you to organize images in three ways: Newest to Oldest, Oldest to Newest, and Custom Order. Depending on the order in which you want your memories to appear, you can choose the desired order.

Although the sorting tool is quite simple to use, it is slightly hidden in the shelves of several features that have arrived in the latest iteration of iOS. That’s the reason I couldn’t notice it at first. And I guess your story might not be much different.

  1. Start the Photo app on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Now press the Albums tab basically.

3. Next, choose album which photos and videos you want to sort.

4. Then press the three horizontal points in the upper right corner.

5. Then select kind On the menu.

6. Finally, select the preferred sorting option. As mentioned above, there are three options to choose from:

  • From newest to oldest –
  • From oldest to newest-
  • Custom order –

It is more or less that ! The change would take effect instantly and your images would start appearing in the desired order.

If you ever want to change the sort order of your photos, return to this same menu by following the steps mentioned above and then select the preferred option at the end.

Perfectly sort your photos and videos on iPhone and iPad

That’s how the brand new sorting feature in the Photos app works. It can play a vital role in keeping your snaps in the right order. Whether you prefer to keep your images neatly organized or want to make exploring a little easier, it will have a role to play.

As we’re talking about iOS 14, I recommend checking out the equally cool new additions like the Photos widget, the ability to set default browser/mail, and sleep tracking. Do you have comments or a question? Feel free to send it through the comments section below.
