1. First, open the Play Store on your Android TV and install the Solid Explorer app (To free, offers in-app purchases).
2. Next, open it and click on the hamburger menu located at the top left corner. Here, click on the 3-dot menu and select “ Storage Manager“.
3. On the next page, select your choice of cloud service. Since I mainly use Google Drive for file transfer, I choose this.
4. Then you can enter a display name if you want and click “Next” located in the upper right corner. I left the display name blank because this step is optional.
5. Now click on “ Connect to Google Drive“.
6. This will take you to your existing Google account which is linked to the TV. You can simply choose this account or add a new account from the option below.
7. After that, Solid Explorer will ask you for permission to access your Google Drive files. Keep in mind, this is a sensitive permission to grant so only proceed if you are sure of what you are doing. I recommend that you add a secondary Google account so that your personal files on Google Drive are not affected by any third-party application.
8. Once you have done this, click “Next” and review all your contact details.
9. Finally, click on “Connect and you’re done. Note that you may be asked to create a password to protect your Drive files on Solid Explorer. If you want, you can add an extra layer of security.
10. You will now find your Google Drive under the same burger menu in the solid explorer. Open it to access all your Drive files.
11. For example, I wanted transfer apk file So I uploaded it to my Google Drive and now I can access the APK directly on my Android TV. It’s pretty transparent, right? Not just APK, you can download and transfer any file or folder to Android TV using any of the leading cloud services.
